My World of Writing
Writing fiction is a hobby that has consumed me for most of my life. I wish I could do it full time but have to settle for fitting it into my life where I can because I still have to feed my family.
This site is primarily a showcase of my writing but also serves to help me connect with past acquaintances. See the About Me page for a bit of history on me that may not relate to just my writing.
Most site navigation is done using the Page Navigation menu to the left. The menu along the top allows access to some extra content.
After a busy year in 2011 I turned my sights from free markets (the author does not get paid when published) to for-pay markets. This was a personal challenge, forcing me to hone my stories to higher standards. I must be a slow study because I didn't get anything published in 2012. I did do a lot of writing though, and must say, even if none of it gets published, it was a lot of fun.
As I look back on 2012, I think I didn't send my stories out very much. Too busy writing, not busy selling...or was it the fear of rejection? One thing about electronic submissions, it is easy to lose the rejection emails in the clutter of everything else in my in-box.
So far 2013 is shaping up nicely with two stories accepted very early. I have also turned some attention to the VI Film and Entertainment Co-op, a Cowichan Valley effort to showcase Vancouver Island film industry talent to the world. I am working on learning to write screenplays. Wish me luck.
I also belong to the Cowichan Writer's Group, see their site for more information on them.
